𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗢𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲?As UEFA EURO 2024 unfolds in Germany this summer, fans from 23 teams have joined the host nation in a vibrant celebration of football. Among them, the Dutch supporters stand out, not just in number but in their distinctive color – orange.In our Amsterdam office, the Dutch national team enjoys widespread support among colleagues of various nationalities. This enthusiasm is mirrored in Germany, where streets are awash with Dutch fans proudly donning their orange gear. Just last weekend in Leipzig, a sea of over 40,000 Dutch supporters filled the streets, passionately cheering on their team.But why is orange so closely associated with the Netherlands, a country whose flag is red, white, and blue? The answer lies in a rich historical legacy.The color orange is a tribute to the Dutch royal family, known as the House of Orange-Nassau. This tradition dates back to 1544, when 11-year-old William of Orange inherited the principality. William later became a pivotal figure in the Netherlands' struggle for independence from Spanish rule. During this period, the national flag featured blue, white, and orange.Although the modern Dutch flag no longer includes orange, the color remains deeply ingrained in Dutch culture. It is prominently displayed at major sporting events and royal celebrations, symbolizing the country's enduring connection to its royal heritage and history.

Sparta, commonly known as 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗮 𝗥𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗺, is the oldest football club in the Netherlands, founded in 1888. It operates as an amateur sports club alongside its professional counterpart. Transforming an Old Hospital into Apartments and a School...In 2022, the 𝗭𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝘆𝗺𝗻𝗮𝘀𝗶𝘂𝗺 relocated to the historic Gatehouse of the 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗭𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗥𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗺. This building has undergone a significant transformation over the past few years, converting from a hospital into a school. The exterior has been renovated, and the interior has been fully adapted while retaining its beautiful, historic details.In 2023, the Zuider Gymnasium received the 𝗥𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗺 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲 for their outstanding efforts in converting the historic hospital building into a school.To ensure the security of students' belongings, the school provides each student with a 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗠𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸. Students can secure their belongings using a self-chosen 4-digit code.
