We live in a state fortunate enough to only experience small natural disasters. Our hearts go out to those across the country affected by Hurricane Helene. We know how devastating natural disasters can be, and now more than ever, it’s time to come together. Whether through donations, volunteering, or spreading awareness, every effort counts in helping these communities rebuild and recover.Hurricane Helene has caused an estimated $145 to $160 billion in damage, making it one of the costliest storms in U.S. history. The extensive destruction impacted homes, businesses, and infrastructure, particularly along the Gulf Coast and southern Appalachian regions. This figure includes both insured and uninsured losses, along with the economic impact of evacuations, power outages, and disruptions to supply chains. If you can’t get your boots on the ground, please please visit https://lnkd.in/gcbD93iR to learn of ways you can support those affected by hurricane Helene.#hurricanehelene #communitysupport #ehsrestoration

Based in North Carolina, our hearts are heavy with the unprecedented destruction Hurricane Helene has brought to our western counties. Despite the valiant efforts of first responders, the National Guard, utility teams, and humanitarian workers, many of the most severely affected areas remain isolated, struggling to access necessities like gas, food, water, electricity, and cell service. The impact extends beyond our state lines into Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida—regions that have also faced significant damage. Although our facilities were not damaged, it's likely we all know someone—a colleague, friend, family member, neighbor or client—who has been touched by this tragedy. In light of such overwhelming adversity and hardship, finding the right way to help can seem daunting. However, by coming together in support we can create positive change. We encourage you to join us at Alcami in contributing to the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund as a step towards aiding our neighbors on their path to recovery. Alternatively, if you're already connected with a trusted non-profit known for their relief efforts or prefer organizations like the American Red Cross or Salvation Army for your contributions—please do so. Let’s keep these communities close to heart and continue doing everything within our power to assist them as they rebuild.Contribute to NC Hurricane Relief ➡️ https://gag.gl/sMpO6L#SoutheastStrong #HurricaneHelene #disasterrecovery #alcamistrong

It's truly heartbreaking to see the devastation brought by Hurricane Helene. In response, the National Council on Independent Living established the NCIL Disaster Relief Fund. This fund provides essential support to the Centers for Independent Living (CILs) and Statewide Independent Living Councils (SILCs) affected by disasters, helping them repair or rebuild facilities, replace equipment, and assist their communities. Thanks to the generosity of NCIL members and allies, this fund has been sustained since 2005, with 100% of donations going directly to support centers in need. People with disabilities are disproportionately impacted by disasters, and without prompt assistance, their safety, health, and independence are at serious risk.A donation can help:• Provide emergency relief for Independent Living Centers• Supply critical resources and services to individuals with disabilities• Ensure a swift and effective response when future disasters occurEvery contribution, no matter how small, makes a meaningful difference. Society’s Assets has donated as a company. If you wish to support the NCIL Disaster Relief Fund, please use this link to donate: https://bit.ly/47wtFYH If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Jenny at jenny@ncil.org. Where is the Red Cross after Hurricane Helene? We’re in local communities across several states, working with partners to ensure people’s basic needs are met. • In Florida, we’re distributing ready-to-eat meals and relief supplies — like clean-up items — to people who have returned and are beginning to pick up the pieces of their lives.• In Georgia, we’re also assessing damage in communities and working with partners to distribute food while continuing to shelter many people.• In South Carolina, we’re providing safe drinking water and cots to some line workers who are working to restore power in an affected area.• Across several open shelters in Tennessee, we’re ensuring people’s basic needs are met with food, emotional support and more.• In North Carolina, we’re deploying dozens of emergency response vehicles daily with emergency supplies and opening shelters as needed to support the growing needs of those affected. We’re also supporting reunification efforts for those still missing loved ones. Our work doesn’t stop there — disaster teams are also helping people in Virginia and Ohio who were affected by the remnants of the storm.People affected by Helene urgently need help now, and we can’t do this alone. You can make a difference today by donating at https://rdcrss.org/3zPkFSf or texting the word HELENE to 90999.
